C O M P U T E R 1.0

Victoria Manganiello + Julian Goldman

2018

Textile artist Victoria Manganiello and designer Julian Goldman created a series of textile-meets-technology pieces that question the sentimental and technical implications that textiles have on humanity.

“C O M P U T E R   1.0 seeks to function as a historical lens that shows how our relationship to computing technology has always been fraught with juxtaposed promises of utopian and dystopian futures, while the reality consistently finds itself somewhere in between.” - Manganiello, Goldman

I collaborated with the two to produce a video and score a soundtrack to promote and archive their artwork. I chose to create the soundtrack with synthesizers controlled by a sequencer to extend the concept of programable machines that resulted from the invention of the loom.

This piece will be on display again at the MODA in New York City May 16th, 2018.
