OR MAGAZINE
I worked with a team of writers, photographers, videographers, and designers to produce an iPad based interactive magazine. OR Magazine is an annual publication from the University of Oregon's School of Journalism and Communication. The 2013 issue acted as an Oregon travel guide from a journalist's prospective. Rather than destination based articles, we told the stories of active Oregonians to awaken the possibilities the state has to offer.
My team wanted to detail the complex equipment involved in outdoor sports, so we produced an interactive Gear Guide for those stories. During the term I was enrolled in a photo lighting class, so I took my new skill to light and photograph a kayaker, rock climber, two mountain bikers, all their gear and cut the images. The designers then brought it to life. On touch, each piece of gear displays a description of its purpose, and our athletes' voices further explain the gear.
Additionally, I shot and produced a multimedia piece for our mountain biking article. The story combines the activities of two downhill mountain bikers with a group of trail builders to compare the athletes and the maintainers of the sport.
